Мужик в очках уверенно держал центр, его оружие в защите отклонялось строго в пределах необходимости. Оба использовали провоцирующие удары по клинку, парень при этом часто терял равновесие и контроль средней линии. У парня не было шансов, мужику в очках уважение.

From the pre fight it looked very much like the man in the glasses was the most vexed, and looked the most confident. Im so confused. If this is france, how come there are two men engaged in combat without either waving a white flag or switching teams during the fight?

In Germany students engage in "Mensur" and same goal is first blood and the duel ends. However first blood is a bit more than a scratch and results in most cases ina scar which is hold as a batch of honor

I spent a lot of time there as a child (a few years after this was filmed). It was wonderful hearing his voice and seeing his place.
